Chemistry 242 (Organic Chemistry II)

Second semester Organic Chemistry. This class covers material from Chapters 13-25 of the Solomons textbook.
Text & Other Requirements: (packaged at considerable price savings): Solomons, Organic Chemistry, 9th Edition (John Wiley & Sons); Solomons, Study Guide and Solutions Manual for Solomons 9th Edition (John Wiley & Sons); Hehre, Shusterman & Nelson; Stull, Science on the Internet; John Wiley & Sons Molecular Model Set for Organic Chemistry. Students must read the assigned chapters before and after lectures for complete understanding of the material. Problem solving is an essential part of the course, and you should always try to do the problems before looking up the answers. Always read questions carefully when solving problems, both in the homework and in the tests.

Taught in the spring semester each year. This class utilizes the Blackboard site wherein all class communication, course documents, Syllabus, etc. are posted and updated regularly during the semester. Blackboard Academic Suite Logon

Chemistry 701 (Selected topics in Chemistry)

This class will discuss selected topics related to target oriented synthesis, synthetic tactics and strategies. The target molecules will be designed by using biological concepts as models.

Taught in the spring semester each year, this course is limited to a small number of graduate students and is taught in seminar style.
